All CCSF Faculty Members — part-time, full-time, credit and noncredit — in the College are members of the Senate. The Executive  Council is a group of 29 faculty members elected by the Senate at large whose primary function is to make recommendations with regard to academic and professional matters. 

As a member of the Executive Council, you will be able to:

  • Help make recommendations with regard to academic and professional matters (for more details or information see “What is the Executive Council?”)
  • Become more knowledgeable about Shared Governance issues
  • Learn about CCSF’s culture;
  • Develop your ability to engage in collegial discussion
  • Become acquainted with parliamentary procedures
  • Participate in collective decision-making; and
  • Vote on a broad range of important issues that affect the future of faculty and students.
  1. The nomination is for a two-year term. However, under certain circumstances, terms may be one year only.
  2. Meetings are held every other Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  3. For the 2024-25 academic year all meetings will be held in person. Remote attendance may be permitted for up to 20% of scheduled meetings, for just cause. This shall apply unless the ADA or other state and/or federal law requires accommodation be met by remote attendance due to the Brown Act regulations.

ALL FACULTY MEMBERS – part-time, full-time, credit and noncredit may run for Executive Council. Council members may serve two consecutive two-year terms, and then must sit out for one year.

ANY three faculty members -- part-time, full-time, credit or noncredit (not necessarily Council members) -- may nominate you by signing the nomination form. Please note: on the nomination form, the words “three undersigned Senate members” refers to ANY three faculty members.

All faculty members – part-time, fulltime, credit and noncredit – may vote in the elections. Voting is conducted online in early April each year. Voting instructions will be publicized via email and posted on the Academic Senate website. Discrepancies will be settled by the Election Commissioners.

It’s that time of year again.  The Academic Senate Executive Council is seeking nominations for faculty to serve on next year’s Academic Senate Executive Council.  The Executive Council is the body that represents and appoints all faculty in college governance and represents faculty voice in all academic and professional matters ranging from accreditation to art preservation. Whatever your area of expertise, experience, or interest might be, it is needed and appreciated on the Executive Council! If you are not available to serve yourself, please encourage a colleague to do so. There are currently 21 openings on the council for this election, and all CCSF faculty members (including full and part-time instructors, counselors, librarians, and all other non-instructional faculty members) are eligible to run for seats and to nominate candidates.

To run for Executive Council, you need to be nominated by three other faculty members. The process for nominations is all electronic. As you fill out the (a google form) you may write their emails in the Google Form indicating their agreement.  We also strongly encourage each candidate to submit a candidate statement, which can be up to 200 words (longer statements will be cut off at the 200-word mark).  The must be completed by 5:00 p.m. April 9th.

Your 2025 Academic Senate ballot will include two ballot measures to amend the Constitution of the Academic Senate. They are separate measures to be voted up or down independently of one another. As per, the two amendments are in the following Articles:

  1. Article III Membership - Add the language “In an election where the number of candidates is smaller than Council seats available, these department limits shall be suspended. No department should constitute a majority of the Council. Members so elected will remain on Council for a single year.”
  2. Article V Term of Office - Increase the number of consecutive Council terms from two terms to three terms

*By Article IV of the Academic Senate Constitution: “If at the time for nominations to close, the number of candidates does not equal twice the number of vacancies to be filled, the Council or the Election Commission shall postpone balloting one week, during which time additional candidates may be nominated upon the written petition of one Senate member and the written acceptance of the candidate. The postponed balloting shall then take place regardless of the number of candidates.”
